Draft for review

Privacy

This is a draft of ChargeUnpacker's privacy practices, posted while we onboard the first households. It will be revised before general availability.

What we receive

ChargeUnpacker works by accepting the Amazon order and shipping emails that you forward to a private address we generate for you. The contents of those forwarded emails — order numbers, line items, prices, ship-to addresses — are stored so we can parse and reconcile them.

If you connect YNAB, we hold an encrypted OAuth refresh token so we can post subtransactions on your behalf. We never ask for your YNAB password.

What we don't have

We have no access to your Amazon account or its order history beyond the emails you choose to forward. We don't read other email in your inbox. We don't sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers.

Third parties

We use a large-language-model provider (currently Anthropic) to classify line items into YNAB categories. Only the item description is sent, not order totals, addresses, or account identifiers.

We run the service on Google Cloud and Cloudflare. Standard provider data handling applies, and none of these vendors receive your data for marketing.

We use Google Analytics and PostHog to understand how the website is used. These see your activity on our pages, not the contents of your forwarded emails or your YNAB budget.

Retention

Forwarded raw emails are retained while your account is active so we can re-parse if the parser improves. You can request deletion of any stored email or your full account at any time.

Your choices

You can stop forwarding, revoke the YNAB connection, and request deletion at any time. The forwarding address is yours alone — rotate or retire it from the dashboard once it's available.
